What are the Ara ako?

Each term at Te Kura o Matapihi Te Kāhui Mātaamua tauira particpate in an Ara ako of their choice.  The learning is project based and is an opportunity for our tamariki to try new things, learn in a different way, and work with people who they may not otherwise get a chance to.

Why have Ara ako?

We want the tauira to experience success, to find out more about themselves as learners , and to learn new skills and build their knowledge base about the world around them. We want them to understand how their lives are shaped through history.  We want them to explore this world around them through; play, movement, crafting with their hands - through all of their senses.

We want the tauira to be excited and engaged with their learning.
